Introducing a Major Milestone for Environmental Public Health!

Introducing a Major Milestone for Environmental Public Health!

After years of collaboration and development, NEHA has officially released the Pillars of Governmental Environmental Public Health, a national framework built to help local environmental public health departments identify essential program areas, estimate staffing needs, and advocate for resources.

This project represents one of NEHA’s largest investments to date and brings together insight from hundreds of professionals across 45 states.

It reflects what’s working in the field, and how agencies of any size can use those benchmarks to build stronger, more effective programs.

You’ll find guidance on the 11 core environmental public health programs as well as recommendations for staffing, training, and performance outcomes.

The resource also includes insights on emerging topics like climate health, healthy homes, and air quality.

This is about strengthening the local infrastructure that protects our communities every day.  Whether you’re an EPH director seeking to strengthen existing programs, a manager advocating for resources, or a policymaker working to support public health infrastructure, this guide offers practical benchmarks and strategies to enhance environmental health services in your community.
